Photo of the Week: Sunrise on African Daisy

The sun arises on an African Daisy (Treasure Flower) in Sun Valley, Nevada.

This beautiful flower scene was captured on August 1, 2025, in the Highland Ranch community of Sun Valley, Nevada. As the sun rises and starts to caress this wonderful little plant, the flower heads open to welcome its lovely warmth and energy.

The flowers are African Daisies, also known as the Treasure Flower (Gazania rigens), which are highly drought-tolerant flowers native to southern Africa. They require full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day), and are quite at home here in Sun Valley’s semi-arid climate.
