Sun Valley seems to collect abandoned cars, motor homes, and various other vehicles. To report these eyesores for removal, please call (775) 785-9276. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) will address these reports as time permits.
I spoke recently to a representative from the WCSO who confirmed that calling this non-emergency dispatch number is the first step. Depending on their workload and priorities, they will investigate when appropriate. Obviously, stopping crime is paramount, but these types of non-emergencies also have a spot on the plate for the Sheriff’s office.
From the WCSO’s website: “Be prepared to provide as much of the following information as possible:
- Exact location of the vehicle (address it’s parked in front of and/or the street it’s on and the nearest cross street)
- Color, make, model, and license plate number
- Anything that stands out visibly, such as damage, flat tires, stickers, etc.
- Length of time since the vehicle last moved from its current location.”
Reports may also be made via the WCSO website: https://forms.washoecounty.us/f/wcso_abandonedvehicles
