We’ve all seen it. There’s something definitely going on at 5440 Sun Valley Blvd. This 2,891 sq. ft. structure is the old Wells Fargo branch building, and there is remodeling being performed inside and painting outside.

Public records show that a building permit was issued recently, and said permit indicates that the building is being improved to become a Carniceria Monarca. A carniceria is a butcher shop or meat market. Many carnicerias also sell fresh produce and other groceries. Monarca is the Spanish word for monarch (like the butterfly).

As we learned in grade school, butterflies undergo a 4-stage transformation known as metamorphosis—a process where they completely change their physical form. Their life cycle comprises 4 stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly.
Studies have shown that observing or counting butterflies can decrease anxiety by nearly 10%. This physiological calming effect boosts overall mental well-being for weeks after the event.
The way I see it, we are currently viewing the pupa stage of this marvelous transfiguration. In the near future, we will witness the vacant shell of the chrysalis cast off as the majestic monarch emerges in all its calming and colorful splendor. 🦋
P.S. The permit doesn’t say anything about touching the recently-reinstalled Wells Fargo ATM, so I’m betting it’s here to stay. Keep calm and carry on. 👑
