Meet The Candidates: Veronica Cortes Tamantini

Veronica Cortes for NV Assembly District 27.

Candidacy

Veronica “Lunch Lady” Cortes is running for Nevada State Assembly (District 27). District 27 covers all of Sun Valley and Panther Valley (plus a bit of Sparks, Reno, and Stead, but not the bulk of Golden Valley or Lemmon Valley).

About Veronica

Veronica Cortes Tamantini was born and raised right here in Sun Valley, Nevada. She attended Edward C. Reed High School—and she never left, because Sun Valley is home.

For over 26 years, she’s worked in WCSD Nutrition Services, making sure every child in this community is fed, cared for, and seen. That’s where she earned the name “The Lunch Lady”—and she wears it with pride.

“I’ve spent over 26 years feeding the children of Sun Valley. Now I want to fight for their futures—in the Assembly.”—Veronica Cortes

Veronica is a certified Notary Public, a mobile notary serving neighbors across Washoe County, and the proud founder of Valley Amigos Horseback Riding & Farming Club—a nonprofit connecting youth with land, animals, and community roots. She also owns Bi-Rite Pizza on Sun Valley Blvd at 7th Ave, your source for delicious, hot, fresh-baked pizza and wings.🍕

She’s not a career politician. She’s your neighbor and friend. She was awarded the SVGID Community Service Award in November 2024, and is currently serving the community on the Sun Valley CAB (Citizens Advisory Board).

  • Pro-Life: Protecting the most vulnerable.
  • Parental Rights: Parents know their children best.
  • 2nd Amendment: Shall not be infringed.

Her slogan: “For God · Family · Country“—these aren’t just words. They’re the backbone of everything Veronica will fight for in Carson City.

As a dedicated Washoe County School District employee, public servant, business owner, and community founder, Veronica knows what Sun Valley families need. Her platform is built for Sun Valley families—not special interests, nor party bosses.
