Integrity, Common Sense, and Responsiveness: “When I’m elected to the Washoe County Commission, I promise to be guided by common sense. I’ll be transparent, and I’ll listen to you, the County’s residents.”
Introduction
Rob Pierce is a U.S. Navy Veteran and a 38-year resident of Washoe County. He is running for Washoe County Commission to bring fiscal responsibility, transparency, and practical experience to county government.
He and his wife Linda raised their family in the North Valleys home they built ourselves. Their three daughters attended Washoe public schools and graduated from the University of Nevada.
Pierce retired after a fulfilling career at AT&T. Community service is important to him. Over the years, he’s served on a variety of boards and commissions in Washoe County.

Personal Message
My Reno roots go deep. My grandfather put the roof on the Park Lane mall. My dad learned the construction business from him, and taught me a great deal about building things. Their legacy is alive in our family home, which I built myself – with help from my wife Linda, and our friends and family.
Our daughters loved sports. I coached their American Youth Soccer teams, and was the fundraising director for the AYSO regional league. While the teams racked up many victories, the girls also learned the larger lessons youth sports offers – building character, losing with dignity, and the value of teamwork.
To this day, my greatest professional accomplishment was my service to this country. In the Navy there were new challenges. I worked with aircraft mechanics, and I got an introduction to purchasing and procurement. Both of those experiences became valuable in my civilian career.
I enjoy working with my hands. I was an Equipment Specialist at AT&T. I managed the company’s Nevada fleet, and later I was a Systems Technician. AT&T was a great place to grow. Working there, I discovered my talent for delivering cost-savings and efficiency. As fleet manager I implemented a system to track the most commonly-used components and replenish the inventory automatically. I’m told the company still uses the system I put in place.
My Top Priorities
- FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY & RESPECT FOR TAXPAYERS – Transparent budgeting with clear priorities; Cut government waste; Promote efficiency in County agencies; Prioritize core services.
- PUBLIC SAFETY – Support Law Enforcement; Support strong fire and first responder services; Continuous focus on emergency management capabilities; Safe roads and public places; Combat human trafficking.
- RESPONSIBLE GROWTH – Early and consistent community engagement; Conduct thorough due diligence for all projects; Balance competing interests; Protect the quality of life in Washoe County.
- STRONG COMMUNITIES & STEWARDSHIP – Promote a pro-business environment; Promote clean and safe neighborhoods; Encourage sensible help for homelessness and mental health crises; Consider long-term impact of policies.

Community Service and Stewardship: Doing The Right Thing
Communities thrive when people come together to accomplish what none of us can achieve alone. Throughout my life, I have worked side-by-side with others to solve real problems, strengthen our neighborhoods, and serve people in need.
Faith is a driving force in my life. I am a volunteer ordained chaplain for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, where I help people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives with compassion, discretion, and respect. I also proudly volunteered for more than a decade with Washoe County Search and Rescue, serving our community in times of emergency and crisis.
One of my favorite volunteer efforts is working with a group of skilled individuals who donate their time repairing vehicles for people in need. It is rewarding to help families keep their cars running so they can continue getting to work, caring for their families, and keeping their lives moving forward.
Today, I continue serving our community through multiple leadership and governance roles, including five Washoe County boards and two Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority boards. I believe public service is about listening, working hard, and finding practical solutions that benefit the community as a whole.
I am a conservative Christian who leads with compassion, humility, and integrity. My faith guides me to serve with transparency, accountability, and genuine care. I am ready and willing to work with everybody to get the job done for the people of Washoe County.
