Illegal Tire Dumper Caught & Arrested

Sun Valley, Nevada Justice

37-year-old Minden resident Christopher Whitney was recently caught mid-act dumping tires illegally in the hills behind Hug High School in Sparks, NV. Due to the keen, watchful eyes of nearby residents, his unlawful act was caught not only on camera, but also by Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Per Nevada Law (NRS 444.583; NRS 444.630, NAC 444.648), dumping tires illegally on public land is classified as a misdemeanor (or a gross misdemeanor in certain cases), subject to criminal penalties (fines not less than $100/tire; possible sentence of up to six months in county jail), and civil penalties (fines between $500–$5,000; 40 hours of community service).

Sun Valley residents have asked Joe Hart to investigate the outcome of this arrest. When/if additional details become available, this article will be updated.

Please report illegal dumping at the WCSO website.
