Richard David Barnet

Richard David Barnet, 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, June 29, 2024, in Sun Valley, Nevada.

“Rick” was born on September 5, 1945 to Grant and Margaret Barnet, and raised in West Seattle, Washington. Surrounded by a loving, extended family and lifelong friends, Rick fostered fond memories of the Puget Sound and surrounding areas. Rick was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a devoted and loyal friend to many.

Rick is survived by Darlene, his wife of 54 years; brother Bill (Pam) Barnet, sister Barb (Will) Bolinger; his 3 children: Richard (Misti) Barnet, Heather Barnet (Tyler House), David Barnet; his grandchildren Bonny (Phillip) Shoemaker, Rebecca Barnet, Jared Barnet, and Emma Barnet; and his great-grandson, Abraham Shoemaker. Rick loved his family very much, and enjoyed spending time with them as often as possible.

Rick served in the U.S. Army Reserve, and was a long-time Carson City and Reno resident and entrepreneur, raising funds for local charities and civil service organizations. He devoted his life to serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Deeply patriotic, Rick loved God and country, and the freedoms protected by the U.S. Constitution. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, LaPriel Musgrave; and nephew, Matt Bolinger.

At his request, no service will be held. Cremation performed by La Paloma Funeral Services, Reno, Nevada.
