Hug High School

Teacher Appreciation Week runs from Monday, May 4th through Friday, May 8, 2026.

Hug High School English Language Coach Ann Warren

Do you know the ‘mom’ of Hug High School? Her name is Ann Warren, and she is an English language coach.

She has been a teacher for 30 years and helps students who are new to our country, known as the newcomers. She doesn’t really know Spanish but is always willing to try to understand, and is always willing to help anyone with school or simply talk about life.

Mrs. Warren has 5 kids—3 girls and 2 boys. They are all grown now but still stress her out, along with her husband, who is a mechanic who owns his own shop. She shared that she has worked with different colleagues and students throughout her career, many of whom have helped her, too.

Anyone who has met Mrs. Warren will tell you that her personality is something that no one can match and she has an open mind. She gets along well with students and teachers, and she has explicitly mentioned her personal mantra, “Don’t give up on your kids.” This is so important because some students can surprise teachers with how much skill they have, even if they don’t show it at first. Mrs. Warren truly gives so much hope to many students and always encourages them to believe in themselves. She learns from them just as much as they learn from her, and she sees their potential before they even see it in themselves!

Mrs. Warren is a hard worker who is always willing to help. She lives by the statement, “Don’t judge your first interaction with students.” She explained that you just never know what kids are going through or how they truly feel. Mrs. Warren is incredible when it comes to kids and how to talk to them and treat them. Through the years of knowing her, she has taught me that I can have fun and still get my work done. I can be on top of my classes without feeling like I’m behind and getting lost. She always listened to me when I needed it and showed me that I can balance everything. She is my school mom that I didn’t know I needed.

I also interviewed another Hug student, Monica Reyes, who mentioned that Mrs. Warren “made me feel comfortable throughout the four years of being here.” Monica and I have had so much fun with her, especially going around school while talking and eating snacks to catch up on life. Thank you, Mrs. Warren, for always making us feel good to be in school. I will always hold these memories and keep in touch to thank her for always being there for me.
