Justin Brown is a PE teacher—a weights teacher, to be exact. He is greatly appreciated by his students, and not just for motivating them to stay active and healthy, but also for giving them tools they can use in their day-to-day lives.
Mr. Brown is one of the teachers that students can count on to be there when they’re feeling down or if they need help with anything. He is a very easy person to talk to and is always willing to listen to what you have to say.
For example, when I first started school here this year, he made me feel welcomed and it made me want to participate in his class because he is a wonderful teacher and is good at what he does. Mr. Brown teaches weights because “I like teaching kids a healthy lifestyle.” He claims that he enjoys his job because he gets to watch young kids grow, and his favorite thing to do with his weights class is to see them do their maxes.
Before Mr. Brown taught weights, he taught English Language Learners (ELL) at the old Hug High School campus for four years, then came to the new campus and has been teaching weights for one year. Brown also works with Mike Bowland, and they have been close ever since they taught at the old campus. They were ELL teachers together and have known each other for six years now.
Bowland shared that they knew each other even before they started working together and that he likes working with Brown because he is a great teacher and friend. He also stated that Brown gets along with others very well, mostly because he is very patient and very understanding, which is one of the reasons why he likes working together.
Outside of school, Mr. Brown likes to play golf with his friends when he has the time. He has been golfing off and on for ten years now and he started golfing because he wanted to get outside and hang out with his friends. Fun fact about him—he has been to Coachella two times before and got to see Justin Bieber. Happy Teacher Appreciation to a kind, warm, energetic teacher!
