Come join us at Hobey’s Casino in the upstairs banquet room at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026 for our next Sun Valley Citizen Advisory Board (CAB) meeting.

What is a CAB?

Citizen Advisory Boards (CABs) are organized meetings held on a regular basis for the purpose of bringing community members together to discuss topics of interest within their neighborhood, express ideas and concerns to Washoe County staff, and hear from subject matter experts.

Does Sun Valley, NV have a CAB?

Yes. We meet on the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Hobey’s Casino (5195 Sun Valley Blvd) in the upstairs banquet room, to stay informed and to plan for Sun Valley’s future. The CAB meetings have lots of information in store for those who like to be involved in their community.

May 2026 Agenda Highlights:

  • PUBLIC SAFETY UPDATES – General community updates from public safety representatives; including but not limited to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, and others.

  • FOSTER, ADOPT, AND MENTOR (FAM) PROGRAM – A representative from the Foster, Adopt, & Mentor (FAM) Program will provide an overview of foster care, adoption, and mentorship opportunities, including program requirements, common misconceptions, and ways community members can get involved in supporting local youth and families.

  • NORTHERN NEVADA PUBLIC HEALTH (NNPH): GRAB HEALTHY INITIATIVE – Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) Health Educator Amanda Santos will present on the Grab Healthy initiative, which aims to improve access to affordable, healthy foods in communities that rely on small markets and convenience stores. The presentation will introduce the program and explore community interest and need within the Sun Valley area.
