Little Free Libraries: A Worldwide Phenomenon

Free Little Library, Sun Valley, NV

Sun Valley, Nevada is home to several Little Free Libraries, a worldwide movement to provide no-hassle, free access to books when a traditional library may not be nearby.

Personally, I know of four (4) little free libraries in Sun Valley, although one might, technically, be within City of Sparks boundaries, but it’s near Hug High School, so it’s just a stone’s throw from Sun Valley proper.

Two of my favorites are located in Juniper Heights and at Lois Allen Elementary School. The official Little Free Library map shows another at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sun Valley. The one pictured in the following photo isn’t even listed, officially, so there are likely more in the valley that just aren’t documented.

About the Author

Richard Barnet

A former resident of Carson City, Reno, and Sparks, Richard finally saw the error of his ways and moved his family to Sun Valley, Nevada to live the good life. He finds Sun Valley intriguing, and loves this magical place more than words can describe.

Richard, a Scorpio, currently enjoys playing Star Trek Fleet Command, watching 'The Wheel of Time' on Amazon Prime, and listening to crazy genres of music on Spotify—including classical. (Whoa.)

While most people either dislike Sci-Fi films entirely, or they vehemently prefer Star Wars to Star Trek (or vice versa), Richard loves both Star Trek and Star Wars—equally.

Richard loves using em dashes, and swears by the Oxford comma. His favorite BBQ food is smoked & salted beef brisket, his favorite painter is Piet Mondrian, and his Hogwarts house is Ravenclaw.
