Local Government Meeting Schedules

Getting involved with government in Sun Valley, NV is simple. If you wish to voice your opinions on local issues, there are several ways to go about it.


1. Sun Valley CAB (Citizen Advisory Board)

The Sun Valley CAB meets on the first Monday of every month with the purpose of bringing community members together to discuss local topics of interest, express ideas and concerns to Washoe County staff, and hear from subject matter experts.

Questions and concerns are welcomed at CAB meetings, and also via the Sun Valley Community Input page.

The next scheduled meeting is:

  • Date and Time: Monday, March 2, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.
  • Location: Hobey’s Casino (5195 Sun Valley Blvd) in the upstairs banquet room

2. SVGID (Sun Valley General Improvement District)

The SVGID (check out their new website!) is the quasi-municipal water, sewer, garbage, parks, and planning entity in Sun Valley, NV. The SVGID Board of Directors meets on the second Thursday of every month.

The next scheduled meeting is:

  • Date and Time: Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: SVGID (5000 Sun Valley Blvd) in the downstairs board room (access from Prosser Wy)

3. Washoe County BCC (Board of County Commissioners)

Our two county commissioners for Sun Valley, Nevada are Mariluz Garcia (most of Sun Valley), and Jeanne Herman (Mineral Ave/Quartz Ln area, and Highland Ranch north of 9th Ave).

Regular BCC meetings are open to the public and are held the second, third, and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 10:00 a.m. (Meeting schedules may vary.)

The next scheduled meeting is:

  • Date and Time: Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Location: Washoe County Commission Chambers, located at 1001 E 9th St (Bldg A) in Reno.

4. RTC (Regional Transportation Commission) Board

Mariluz Garcia also sits on the RTC board, which is great for Sun Valley interests. Board meetings are held on the 3rd Friday of each month at 9:00 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting is:

  • Date and Time: Friday, March 20, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Location: 1105 Terminal Way, Reno in the 1st Floor Great Room.

5. WCSD (Washoe County School District) Board of Trustees

The next scheduled meeting is:

  • Date and Time: Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Location: Central Administration Building, Board Room; 425 E 9th St, Reno, NV

6. Other Tools

Washoe 311 Service Requests

Submit a request for something in Washoe County to be addressed. Washoe 311 is your one-step call for non-emergency government assistance. Just dial 3-1-1 (or 775.328.2003) weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
