Here are the non-judicial candidates who have officially joined the race* for elected offices within Washoe County, which pertain most directly to the local concerns of Sun Valley residents. (Names are listed alphabetically by last name. D = democratic candidate, R = republican candidate, L = libertarian candidate, and N = nonpartisan candidate.)
*List will be updated as additional candidates file with the Secretary of State. Final filing date is 3/13/26.

- Colleen Westlake (N) — incumbent
District C:
- James “JJ” Phoenix (N) — appointed incumbent
District F:
- Scott Benton (N)
- Sheena Harvey (N)

District F is an At-Large district which contains all of Sun Valley, among other locations in Washoe County. Each address in Washoe County is served by two (2) school board districts, a smaller district and a bigger, at-large district. Sun Valley is carved up pretty well for the smaller districts, so depending on where you live in Sun Valley, you could live in District B, C, or E, as well as the at-large District F. Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents
District 10:
- Joe Arrascada (N) — incumbent
- Peter Reed (N)
While Sun Valley is located in Regent District 11, District 10 covers nearby TMCC, DRI, and UNR, so this race may be of interest to our residents, too. View a map of Board of Regents districts. View the current regents.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO)
Sheriff:
- Darin Balaam (N) — incumbent
Reno City Council
Ward 4:
- Meghan Ebert (N) — incumbent
- Eddie Gomez (N)
While Sun Valley is not within the City of Reno boundaries, Ward 4 covers some of the nearby North Valleys (Stead, Panther Valley, parts of Golden Valley/Lemmon Valley, and the Clear Acre Ln/Scottsdale Rd area), and Eduardo “Eddie” Gomez has ties to both the Sun Valley and North Valleys areas, so this race may be of interest to our residents, too.
