I saw a Facebook post where someone felt the need for a swear-filled rant about the whole of the people in Sun Valley. And, sometimes, it seems that those of us here do get a bad rap, albeit an undeserved one.
In the amount of time I’ve been here (more than a few years), I’ve found that the majority of people living here are actually quite decent and friendly people. Most are just trying, like everyone else, to simply live their lives as best they can!
We work, go to school, raise our families, attend our religious institutions, etc. Yet, somehow, this area has a continued bad rap? No area is perfect. There will be issues and crime, regardless of where one lives.
Yes, Sun Valley has its struggles. The only true grocery store closed and has yet to be replaced, leaving Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and a couple of Mexican specialty stores to pick up the slack. Otherwise, it’s either Reno Northtowne or Spanish Springs for WinCo or Walmart, or the North Valleys for Grocery Outlet, Smith’s, or another Walmart. This can be difficult for our retired or disabled community, especially with a bus that only runs hourly after, I believe, 6pm on weekdays, and all weekend and holidays.
But we continue on! We make due with what we have, making the best of the situation. As such, I’m sharing images that show this community for what it is—a community of people, doing the very best they can! (Editor’s note: See source post, linked below.) We are not as some Facebook posts would make us out to be.
We’re simply people, living our lives, and hopefully working to make Sun Valley better for the next generation of those who will call this place home! ❤️
