“Good Morning Sun Valley,
I want to remind everyone of the Sept Citizens Advisory Board meeting at Hobey’s on TUES SEPT 1 at 6pm on the 2nd floor. This is not the normal date for the meeting due to the upcoming Holiday on Mon Sept 7. The Oct meeting will go back to the normal date-Oct 5-1st Monday of the month.
Sept 1 meeting will be a little different than normal. If you read the agenda, item #6 has been mislabeled. Paul Nelson from the RTC will be here speaking about electric vehicles fees. This is for our information only as it is a ballot question on the Nov election. It should be very interesting and enable you to decide before the election.
Item #7 will be different from anything we have done so far. We will be discussing noise regulation and enforcement from the August meeting’s discussion with Code Enforcement and WCSO. All the public information will be gathered and a formal letter to the Board of County Commissioners will be written and read to the public and CAB Board for approval.
I hope that you will all come and bring you concerns and suggestions about the Noise Ordinance so that we all can contribute to helping improve the Sun Valley we all love and live in.

What is a CAB?
Citizen Advisory Boards (CABs) are organized meetings held on a regular basis for the purpose of bringing community members together to discuss topics of interest within their neighborhood, express ideas and concerns to Washoe County staff, and hear from subject matter experts.
Does Sun Valley, NV have a CAB?
Yes. We normally* meet on the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Hobey’s Casino (5195 Sun Valley Blvd) in the upstairs banquet room, to stay informed and to plan for Sun Valley’s future. The CAB meetings have lots of information in store for those who like to be involved in their community.

September 2026 Agenda Highlights:
- PUBLIC SAFETY UPDATES – General community updates from public safety representatives; including, but not limited to, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
- ELECTRIC VEHICLE FEES BALLOT QUESTION PRESENTATION – RTC Government Affairs Liaison Paul Nelson, Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) to provide an overview of the electric and hybrid vehicle fee question appearing on the November 2026 General Election ballot, including what the question asks voters to consider and its advisory, non-binding nature. The presentation is intended solely to provide information and will not advocate for or against the ballot question.
- WASHOE COUNTY NOISE ORDINANCE – COMMUNITY DISCUSSION – Continued discussion regarding Washoe County noise regulations and enforcement, building upon the previous presentation at the August 3, 2026 meeting, from Washoe County Code Enforcement and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. CAB members and residents will discuss observations, concerns, and potential changes to existing noise regulations, including areas where current standards or enforcement options may be limited or unclear. Community feedback gathered during this discussion may be used by the CAB to identify potential recommendations for future consideration, including possible inclusion in a formal letter to the Board of County Commissioners.
