It’s officially May. For most students, this is great news. Only one more month of school before summer break.
Not all 12th graders share this joy, however. Some are scared because in one month, they will be forced to leave their childhoods behind and once they finish walking across the stage on graduation day, they will have to begin enduring life as adults for the first time.
It’s May! What does that mean for the Hug High School Class of 2025? It means that some of the last few events that these students will spend with each other are now staring back at them.
Senior Week
Last month was Prom, which was masquerade themed. But more fun is to come for these adolescents during senior week taking place from May 19th – May 23rd.
This year’s senior week will include spirit week, senior assembly, and senior sunset. The spirit weekdays will be:
- Dress as a Childhood Photo (Monday)
- Decades Day (Tuesday)
- Future Career Day (Wednesday)
- Senior Citizens (Thursday)
- Senior Spirit (Friday)
All grade levels are welcome to participate but we strongly encourage 12th graders to engage since this will likely be their last spirit week experience.
Following the Senior Spirit Day on May 23rd, the senior assembly will take place in 2nd period. Also taking place on May 23rd is the senior sunset. The 12th graders will spend their evening starting at 6:00 p.m. on the football field together as a class celebrating one of their final events together. Senior sunset involves dinner, yard games, a class photo, and watching the sunset.
Grad Trip and Graduation
The class of 2025 will be celebrating the end of their high school era at Disneyland in California on May 12th – May 13th. Almost 200 students will be flying to Long Beach at 8:00 a.m. on May 12th and will be spending the entire day and most of the night having fun at the parks. It will be a long and exciting trip for the 12th graders because they won’t be returning home to Reno until 10:35 a.m. the next morning on May 13th.
After all these fun and bittersweet memories they will make in May, June will arrive before they know it and it will be time to say their final goodbyes to their classmates. On June 14th, at 8:00 a.m. sharp, the seniors will cross the stage, receive their diplomas, toss their caps, and they will go their separate ways in life.
