Sun Valley Blvd or Sun Valley Dr?

Sun Valley Dr

Anyone driving down the main drag in Sun Valley, Nevada (SR 443) will see the street signs at most intersections that proclaim the street’s name as “Sun Valley Blvd”, but there are a couple of spots that read “Sun Valley Dr” instead… So, which is it?

A preliminary web search brings up the Wikipedia entry for this stretch of road, which says, “State Route 443 begins at its intersection with North McCarran Boulevard. Just north of this junction, SR 443 interchanges with US 395. From here, the highway heads slightly northeast to the intersection of Dandini Blvd & El Rancho Drive, where the road changes names from Clear Acre Lane into Sun Valley Drive (“Sun Valley Boulevard” on some signs). SR 443 continues north from this intersection through Sun Valley, where it terminates at Seventh Avenue.”[1]

The problem with that statement is that no citation is given, and it seems to contradict what the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) calls it. NDOT’s Description Index for 2025 calls this road “Sun Valley Blvd”.[2]

In addition, NDOT’s map of Washoe County routes has the stretch also labeled as Sun Valley Blvd.[2]

Other, 3rd-party sources, like Google Maps, also show it labeled as Sun Valley Blvd.

While it’s not conclusive, I’m placing my money on Sun Valley Blvd as the official name, not Sun Valley Dr. What do you think? Drop a comment in the form below to express your opinion.
