Ferdinand Tadashi (‘Ferdi’ for short) is an 8-year-old, female Mallard duck. She was named when she was a baby, and given two cartoon character names: Ferdinand (the bull) and Tadashi from Big Hero 6. It’s hard to identify ducks’ gender at first, so she was given boy characters’ names, not knowing that she was actually female.
Ferdi is a very motherly duck. If she decides it’s time for her to sit on her nest of eggs, but another duck is already on the nest, she will just sit on top of the other duck.
Ferdi loves bathing and frolicking in the pool with her sister, Bert Watson (who also has boys’ names), but only tolerates her sister Banana being in the pool at the same time with her. A sibling rivalry, perhaps.
Ferdi enjoys sitting in front of sliding glass doors and people watching. She likes her swimming water to be clean and she also likes to be fed at the same time every day. If either of those things are not to her liking, she quacks outside a window to let her human family know all about it.
Ferdi loves to eat freshly dug-up worms, fresh watermelon, and nice, crisp iceberg lettuce. Occasionally, she also likes fresh green peas or little nibbles of sandwiches (if anyone eats near her).
